SUSAN KELLER BIO
Susan Keller had experimented with numerous art mediums but found that glass brings life to light in the most unique way. Susan studied with Gary and Nina Self at the Hockaday Art Museum in Kalispell Montana then went on to develop her own studio in that city. The name of the studio taken from a conversation with her mentors in which she expressed what Susan felt was an inaccuracy in her work and was told "glass is not a literal medium...what you are doing is illuminating the spirit of the subject." So the Illuminated Spirit Stained glass Studio was named.
The glass patterns Susan uses are either her own or highly edited and personalized stock patterns. she has done custom "utilitarian" pieces for clients for eight years as well as glass art "just for the beauty of it." Susan has not just instructed but encouraged students to think out side the box in their own designs and work with what she considers a most inspirational substance. Glass
